March 26 / Day at school

Hi 🙂
Today I am grateful for many things!

1. Finally had the guts to go talk to this mean guy who disrespected me a month ago… I could tell that he was surprised and not ready for this speech. But he finally confessed that he acted like a coward lol. We didn’t really have the time to speak, so we planned on doing so next week. I’m proud of myself

2. I did an oral presentation in my HR class today and it went really well 🙂 People even laughed at my jokes hahah 🙂

3. Today really felt like spring 🙂 The temperature went above 0C !!

4. I’m grateful because my spanish is really improving !! I can’t wait to practice it this summer..

I hope you had a great day too xxxx
(here’s a picture of my HR team and I today 🙂 I’m the one on top)

Becoming your true self (or ideal self)

Hi !

I like to think about the person that I am and to what I can do to improve myself and become my ideal self.
If you take a minute and think about it, would you want to improve anything in your life?
It can be related to the skills that you have, to your look, to your relationships, to your level of happiness, to your career, to your hobbies,…
In my opinion, we can always set goals for ourselves so that we can become truer to ourselves. But first, you need to realize what kind of person you want to be.

Tony Robbins says that to become the person that he is now, he had to think a lot first.
What he did was to answer 3 questions for every area of his life.

1. Who am I, right now?
2. Who do I want to be?
3. How can I get there?

I did this exercice for my “romantic relationships” area and this is what I came up with.

1. Who am I, right now?
Hi. I am caring, loyal, reserved but extraverted too. I am spiritual, happy and different.
I’ve always been with guys who don’t see the real worth in me.
I’ve always been with guys who have their little secret, who have something to hide. And then I don’t want to look crazy so I don’t bother asking.
And I feel I never was with anyone who truly loved me. I think it was kind of superficial to them. Or they just weren’t ready for a relationship.
I feel I’m kind of naive too because I believe that everyone’s really good at heart, but then I give too many chances to people who don’t deserve it.
What I mean is that I deserve better than what I had in the past years.

2. Who do I want to be?

I want to be that independent but loving woman every man dreams to be with. I want to make someone happy, but I want to feel loved and special. It won’t only be about sex. I need that intimacy side that always lacked. I want to have real conversations with my man. I want a man who’ll respect me. A man for who I’ll mean so much to him. A man that’ll make everything to make me happy. I want to be that sexy, loving and caring girlfriend. That surfer girlfriend he’ll be proud to introduce to everyone he knows. And I want to feel the same way. Be proud of my man, for who he is, and what he does. I don’t want to have to make excuses for his actions.  It’ll have to be real and true.

3. How can I get there?

I have to stop going back to these people first.
Start going out more, meeting more people.
But I think I have to work on myself first. And that’s what I’m doing, right?
I want to be a surfer, look like a surfer and breath like one.
I have to meditate. Learn to love unconditionally. Love everyone. Even those who hurt me.
But love myself enough to never accept anything less than what I truly deserve.
I have to start meeting people from the surf community in Montreal. Maybe go to their parties?
I have to learn to be more independent.
Learn spanish,
Work on my surfing skills.
Be fit… go to the gym haha.

—This is not so organized because it is a resume of 3 pages that I could easily write on this topic. I just felt like sharing this because I don’t really know anyone personally here, but at the same time, I feel like I know some of you too.
–Send me the link if you do this exercice too, I’d love to read it.
–And please I want to know if you have any idea of how I can get to my ideal self 🙂 Or just have any thoughts on the topic.

February 24th / Studying

Hello again!

Feels like my brain is going to explode haha 🙂 I had to wake up at 4:30am and I’m still not sleeping (it’s 11:30pm now). So yes it was a long day, but I did a lot of things 🙂

1. I am grateful for this morning. I assisted to my first Toastmaster meeting and I loved it! For those who don’t know, Toastmaster is an International organization where you can develop your oratory and leadership skills without being judged. I really want to join the club for my personal development, but it’ll also allow me to be fully ready to have a real job when I finish my studies 🙂 yess!!

2. I am grateful for the energy that I had to study for my exams today. I didn’t procrastinate. Not at all! I stayed at the university from 9am to 8pm. And I didn’t even have a class. 🙂

3. I am grateful for the advice that I got from Khalkinised 2 days ago. I did 20 minutes of mindfulness meditation tonight and it brought me so much good. It’s like every worry that I had before disappeared and I could feel my body much more relaxed.

4. I am grateful because I booked the apartment in Costa Rica today on airbnb . So I’m really going! yes!!!

Sorry for the weird sentences,
english’s not my first language, and I can’t even think anymore. Need to sleep hihi.

Hope you had a good day,

February 23rd / Day at School

Oh hi !

How are you? 🙂
Today I’m grateful for many things.

1. I am grateful for these new people I connect to because of this blog. Today I started talking with this girl called Diana and she is really sweet 🙂

2. I am grateful because I met my best friend before our math class today and we finally decided on the apartment we would rent this summer in Costa Rica! it’s getting real!!

3. I am grateful because I’m starting to see some clarity in my thoughts and especially on what I want in life. I did this wheel of life Identity Test (Tony Robbins is my idol) and it just really helped me to see which areas of my life I need to work on to have what I really want. Try it, it’s really cool!!

4. I am grateful for the book that I’m reading (it’s on happiness). It’s probably the best book I’ve ever read. I’m almost done with it, but after I promise I’ll do a little review on it 🙂

Hope you all had a good day 🙂

Exercice: Have Control Over Your Emotions

Hi again !

Felt like talking about this topic since I had a very bad day at work and I kind of exploded into tears in front of my boss thinking to myself how ashamed I was of not being able to have control over my emotions…

On one side, I know that some of my biggest qualities are that I am very human and empathic. On the other side, sometimes I feel emotions so much that I have trouble to stay focused if I am either very happy or sad. And I know I don’t have to live like this if I don’t want to.

How can you have control over your emotions?

I’ve read and watched a lot of videos on the topic, and one of my favourite is this one by Leo Gura.

What he says is that it’s important to take full responsibility for the emotions you’re feeling (positive and negative). Don’t blame your emotions on circumstances or on people. You are causing what you are feeling. Logical, but is it practical?

Exercice: How to raise your consciousness?

For the next 7 days, commit to take full responsibility for your emotions. Be conscious of when you have a negative emotion. Stop and notice (when you are feeling this emotion) and take note of the thoughts that you are creating in the moment. “I’m angry.. Why so?” What thoughts are creating this emotion? Don’t necessarily try to stop the negative emotion, just try to understand the thought process. Which thought process is generating this negative emotion? (In Leo’s video).

This is what I am committing to do for this week. And I encourage you to try it too 🙂

Please comment and share your ideas on the topic. I am sure we can all learn from each other 🙂

Goodnight,

Inspiring question #1

If you’d die now, would you have any regrets?

Not living true to yourself?
Working too much?
Not allowing yourself to fall in love?
Not exploring yourself enough?

I feel answering this question can help you realize what’s truly important for you. If you wouldn’t have much regrets, good for you! If you would, now is a good time to start to work on those things so that you may enjoy to live as much as you should.

1. My number 1 regret would be that I would have never found that man that I’d want to spend my life with.
2. I would also regret that I didn’t get out of my comfort zone more than I did. I know that I am courageous and that I can do more than what I am doing right now in my life.
3. Finally, I think I would regret the fact that I don’t speak spanish fluently yet.

I hope this little post helps you grow or at least interested you.
Pleaaase, I would love to hear about your regrets so that we can help each other 🙂

Have a great night,

10 Fun Facts About Me: Or my way to say hi

I must say that I’m surprised but really grateful about all the people who discovered and followed my blog in the past days. Thanks so much! I’m glad that you are enjoying my posts 🙂 Please keep commenting, I love to interact with you 🙂

I’ll certainly be continuing my blog, but I felt the need to introduce myself a little bit better than only through my “About” page. And what a better way to introduce myself than with 10 fun facts about myself? Ready? 🙂 Here they are,

10 fun facts about me:

1. I’m a french Canadian. Which means that my first language is french, but I learned english through school and during my trips.

2. I’m the messiest person ever. You should see my bedroom. I see it as my “creative” side 😛

3. I studied one year in “Sexology” at university. The best thing I learned ? Probably the term: Psychologically Androgynous. Which leads me to fact #4…

4. I consider myself as psychologically androgynous. Basically, I have about as much “feminine” and “masculine” personality traits. I love makeup and beauty, but I would rather play softball and drink a dark beer than getting my makeup done by a pro.

5. I’ve been listening non stop to reggaeton music for the past month. Listening to that makes me smile and think about the beach (when it’s -25C here!). And it helps a lot with my spanish. Here’s a link to one of my favorite songs right now. I’m a weirdo.

6. I’m a vegetarian. And sometimes I do nightmares about biting into a meat sandwich. Hahah I hate it when it happens.

7. I used to be a very anxious girl in my teen years. And I succeeded to grow into a very zen/laid-back/hippie woman. My sister even calls me “vegetable head”.

8. The man who’ll marry me will have to enjoy doing mandalas and tie-dye shirts with me. That’s the basis hihi 🙂

9. I can’t drink hard liquor. Have to stick with the beer. Otherwise, it always ends up badly..

10. Little, I dreamed about becoming an astronomer. And I had a very weird obsession with the planet “Saturn”. See, I always had my spiritual side 😛

What makes you special ?

Talk to you soon,

Chloé xxx
